A new series of very high isolation DC/DC’s are now available from MicroPower Direct. The MSCHI Series is designed specifically to provide high switching speed, very high I/O isolation levels and the asymmetrical output voltages required to by circuits using SiC gate drive semiconductors.
Offered at very low cost, the MSCHI series consists of eleven different models with inputs of 5, 12, 15 or 24 VDC. Each unit provides dual outputs that fit the optimum gate bias levels for many SiC driver circuits (for example, +15 @ 80 mA & -5 @ 40 mA). Standard features include 5,000 VAC I/O isolation (reinforced), continuous short circuit protection, up to 87% efficiency, and a low isolation capacitance of 3.5 pF. The MTBF (per MIL HDBK 217F) is greater than 3.5 Mhours. All models are approved to EN 62368 (UL).
The MSCHI Series is packaged in a miniature, 7-pin SIP case that requires very little board space. The pin-out is industry standard and all case materials meet UL94-V0 requirements. It is specified for operation over the wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C with no heat sinking required. Cooling is by free-air convection.
The MSCHI is specifically designed for use in the driver circuits for SiC MOSFET devices. It simplifies the task of setting up the correct gate bias levels while also providing a high level of isolation to the gate drive circuit.
