Ultra-Miniature Surface Mount, 0.5A POL Regulator
Available now, the MSR05DFW is a micro-size switching voltage regulator that provides a tightly regulated output of 0.5A. All models are cased in a miniature Dual Flat No-lead (DFN) package measuring only 0.35 x 0.27 x 0.12 in (9.0 x 7.0 x 3.1 mm). A size reduction that allows the MLSRO5DFW to operate while using 57% less board layout space. In total volume, it achieves about an 85% reduction. All with improved performance.
The MLSR05DF operates from inputs ranging from 4.5 to 36 VDC, producing a single, tightly regulated output of 3.3, 5.0, 6.5, 9.0, 12, or 15V at up to 500ma. Standard features include efficiency as high as 92%, low noise operation and tight line/load regulation. The output can be adjusted with a simple trim. The unit is protected against short circuit faults and has a control input that allows it to be turned on/off remotely. All models can be connected to provide a negative output. The MTBF of the series is greater than 9.1 Mhours (per MIL HDBK 217F). All units meet the requirements of AEC-Q100.
All models are fabricated in a thermally enhanced, DFN plastic package. The superior thermal design, including chip level encapsulation material and packaging technology results in a product that operates over the extended temperature range or -40°C to +105°C with no need for a heatsink or fan. Thus saving product cost, design time and application space. Cooling is by free-air convection.
The MLSR05DFW series offers a tremendous savings in product cost and physical size while offering many performance advantages. They deliver the miniature size, high performance features, wide operating temperature range and low cost required for a very wide range applications.
