Case Study: Industrial Controls – Industrial Automation

Project Overview

A modular control system used the MD300CRW to deliver compact, isolated DC power in space-limited environments.

A manufacturer of industrial control systems required a compact DC/DC converter to support reliable power delivery within their modular automation equipment. Used in factory and process control environments, the systems often operate near high-interference sources and must maintain stable performance under varying input conditions.

Key design goals included:

  • Wide input range for integration with 48VDC bus systems
  • Electrical isolation to protect low-voltage control electronics
  • Compact size to fit densely populated enclosures
  • Short-circuit protection and strong EMI compliance for reliability

The engineering team selected the MD300CRW from MPD. Delivering 3W of output power with a 2:1 input range (36–75 VDC), 1,500 VDC isolation, and built-in short-circuit protection, it’s designed for dependable use in space-limited industrial environments. Its miniature SIP footprint simplifies PCB layout, while compliance with EN 55032 Class B EMI standards ensures compatibility with sensitive control and signal interfaces.

By integrating the MD300CRW, the customer achieved a compact, robust power solution that supports long-term operation in industrial automation systems—without the need for external filtering or added complexity.
