Case Study: Automotive & EV Systems – EV Charging Infrastructure

Project Overview

A global EV charging leader enhanced the safety and reliability of their next-generation charging platforms by integrating MPD’s high isolation DC/DC converters.

A leading provider of electric vehicle charging solutions required highly isolated, compact DC/DC converters to support control, monitoring, and communication functions within their advanced charging stations. Their systems face significant electrical noise, surges, and strict reliability standards—especially important for public, field-deployed equipment.

Key design goals included:

  • Reinforced I/O isolation for safety and signal integrity (up to 5,200 VDC)
  • Compact SIP footprint for dense control boards
  • Wide input voltage compatibility for flexible system design
  • High efficiency to support robust thermal management

To address these needs, the engineering team selected two DC/DC converters from MPD: the MD100 series, which offers up to 5,200 VDC isolation in an ultra-compact SIP case, and the MD200 series, delivering 3,000 VDC isolation in the same footprint. Both families provide regulated output, strong EMI performance, and built-in protection for reliable operation in demanding field conditions.

By integrating these modules, the manufacturer improved safety and long-term reliability in their next-generation EV charging platforms—supporting the continued growth of electric mobility with robust, field-proven solutions.
